Drupal Daze At The Science Museum of Minnesota

Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 10:40 AM CST [Drupal]

Twin Cities Open Circuit is hosting Drupal Daze conference on July 19 and 20, 2008 at the Science Museum of Minnesota. There will be presentations and panel discussions. The topics of this two day conference will include:

    • Basic Drupal for people brand new to Drupal either as a user or administrator.
    • Advanced Drupal for Drupalers that have been around the block a little bit.
    • Community Building to focus on how websites can help build communities. This is not necessarily a Drupal specific topic.

I will be presenting again on the topic of SEO, focusing on dealing with duplicate content and covering module updates for Drupal 6.

    Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine

Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 03:30 PM CST [General]

A perfect example of a niche specific social media platform, Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine has recently launched a hub for "hybrid scrappers"--those who mix computer generated design with traditional paper crafting techniques.

Active members share ideas, upload projects and participate in weekly design chalenges.

This week, I was fortunate to be the featured member.

    Silo Ecommerce Solution For Drupal

Tuesday, April 15, 2008, 05:14 PM CST [Drupal]

If you are looking for an affordable silo structured ecommerce solution for your website, the Ubercart module for Drupal may be the perfect option for you. Because it incorporates Drupal's taxonomy system, it is easy to set up your categories and products while taking advantage of the internal linking structure and LSI enhanced URLs.

Over the last year, momentum for Ubercart's development has taken great strides to address issues found in the older EC module that kept Drupal from being a competitive ecommerce platform. The robust system can manage selling physical products from any size catalog, file downloads and memberships.

    Key features include:

    • Configurable catalog that can support subcategories at any level.
    • Flexible product creation and attributes
    • Single page checkout
    • Anonymous checkout
    • Simple order process
    • Integrated payment systems
    • Activity logging
    • XML import/export

It's framework has been developed to work seamlessly with Drupal's core and can be extended with contributed modules and themes.

    Thanks Michelle:

Ironically, this was accomplished in a bit over a year, the site was stark with just a few pages in April of 07, then in June we added a CMS, started blogging and building links like mad, gained authority and poof.

I am a firm believer in Silos and creating the perfect vessel as well (as I can see by your profile) you are a drupal master. Can you forward me your contact info / rates so we can beta test some site themes and potentially offer our clients the option of wordpress (which our developer loves) or drupal (which I would like to know more about).

    Thanks, my email is support@seodesignsolution...

    Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your appreciation of my ramblings - interesting to hear that you lived up in Portrush, you sure picked a windy spot up there on the north coast.
It's a small world, and the internet continues to make it even smaller....
